Prevent Viral Diseases with Ayurveda

“Ayurveda offers an easy understanding of viral diseases and how to prevent them,” says Siddharth Sengupta – MD, Samskrt Natural Wellbeing Pvt ltd. Speaking about the benefits of following an Ayurvedic lifestyle and fighting pandemics like COVID19, he elaborates:

Always remember that at any given time, over eight million germs and viruses are acting against your body and so, any amount of disinfecting is worthless. Instead, the priority should be to increase your immunity so that the body is capable of fighting any disease. And, how does one improve their immune system? Through a lifestyle following proper diet, exercise, and detox. Of course, there are medicines that can help boost it further too. The immune system functions properly when your hormones run properly.

A proper lifestyle to maintain good immunity includes –

  • Ideally, sleeping early by 10 pm and waking up early by 6 am.
  • Having a heavy lunch at 12 pm and a normal dinner at 6 pm
  • Taking an oil bath every day. Apply sesame oil all over your body before taking a bath; this will keep your skin’s acidity intact and also improve your lymphatic system which helps detox the body regularly. Put two drops of sesame oil in each nostril and do oil-pulling to kill any virus or bacteria in the throat, mouth, and nasal tract.
  • Doing Suryanamaskar, every day after applying oil on the body and before taking a bath. This aslo helps detox the body and build up immunity.
  • And finally, staying away from alcohol and smoking which reduce your immunity.

Immunity boosting medicines are –

  • Chawanprash has 20 times more vitamin C than oranges and is the best immune booster.
  • Take 2 neem capsules per day for up to three months and also have tulsi tea every day.
  • Ginger water – boil 3-4 gms of ginger in water and drink this every morning for up to three months

Covid19 Prevention through Ayurveda:

Lifestyle – Oil bath, Nasya and oil pulling, Anulomb Vilomb

Diet – Simple dal rice with veggies or khichdi; avoid non-veg. Mix 1 spoon of ghee and 1 spoon of jaggery and have this 3 times a day after meals. Drink only hot water.

Herbs and Rasayana – Neem capsules 2, 5 tulsi leaves, chawanprash , yashti madhu (kadha) sticks

Burn camphor and dhoop at home

Pray and spend quality time with your family.
