Sustainable Beauty Awards by Ecovia
Ecovia Intelligence announced the winners of the 2021 Sustainable Beauty Awards at a virtual awards ceremony. The Awards aim at recognising operators who are pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry and have been happening since 2013.

New Sustainable Product
Sol de Ibiza (Spain) is the winner with its Face & Body Plastic Free Stick SPF50. The judging panel were impressed with how the company has developed a natural mineral sunscreen that is housed in plastic-free packaging. Hair O’right International Corp (Taiwan) is runner up with Sorghum Radiance skin mask.
Sustainable Ingredient
IFF LMR Naturals (France) got top prize for its Sandalwood Oil New Caledonia For Life. IFF The company has set up a vertically integrated supply chain in Lifou Island, New Caledonia where it is producing sustainable sandalwood oil according to fair trade practices. Provital (Spain) is runner-up with its Ethicskin™ natural active.
Sustainable Packaging
REN Clean Skincare (UK) is the winner for developing the first smart re-closable recycled aluminium sample tube, in partnership with Tubex. The move to recyclable aluminium tubes is saving hundreds of kilograms of plastic a year. Quadpack (Spain) is runner-up with its Woodacity® caps.
Sustainability Pioneer
Weleda (Switzerland) gets top prize for its holistic approach to tackling climate change, packaging footprint, improving soil health, as well as educational initiatives such as MUNDI and Open Garden. AAK Personal Care (Sweden) and LMR Naturals by IFF (France) are joint runner-ups. AAK is recognised for building sustainable and traceable supply chains, whilst LMR Naturals by IFF is undertaking responsible sourcing and developing green solvents.
Sustainability Leadership
Weleda (Switzerland) is winner. The judging panel commends the natural cosmetics firm for taking sustainability actions since its formation a century ago. Weleda has been undertaking ethical sourcing of raw materials, biodiversity conservation, reducing environment impacts, whilst creating positive social impacts. Clariant (Switzerland) and Hair O’right International Corp. (Taiwan) are joint runner-ups.
