Guerlain’s Exotic Tribute to the East Continues…
The French Beauty House Guerlain a line of fine fragrances – ‘Absolus d’Orient collection’ as an ode to what they refer to as the the ‘ancestral home of perfumery.’
In 1925, Jacques Guerlain created the classic fragrance ‘Shalimar’ inspired by the 17th century Indian legend and combined with Art Deco influences of the time perhaps the first ever amber fragrance. Absolus d’Orient collection is a celebration of some exotic and powerful raw materials in Eastern perfumery beginning in 2014 with Santal Royal, the collection connects Guerlain’s unique sense of creativity and expertise to art forms of contemporary times.
The Nose
Says THIERRY WASSER, Guerlain Master Perfumer, “What I’m trying to express with this collection is all the love that the Middle East has for perfume. Not as if I’m creating an essay or a photographic image of the Middle East, instead what I’ve tried to bring back is the heartfelt fraternal affection for perfume that I find they have there. It’s a matter of the heart.”

Packaging Stands Out with Radiance & Elegant Artwork
The famous bee bottle with the gold cap gets further enhanced in THE ABSOLUS D’ORIENT COLLECTION’S BOTTLE that comes in a translucent lacquer that brings about a radiant, bejewelled effect.
Each fragrance in the collection features its own transparent colour that evokes one of the riches of the East.

SANTAL ROYAL
The sandalwood note appears within a distinct chiaroscuro. Woody and creamy notes unfurl against the soft light of rose and mingle with the enigmatic depth of a leather accord and an oud accord.
EPICES EXQUISES
An iconic ingredient within Middle Eastern culture, this one has cardamom with notes of black pepper, oud and patchouli to form ‘a sensual woody scent.’
CUIR INTENSE
The fragrance has Leather that’s ‘expressed in a contrast-filled leather accord with cedar, sandalwood and tobacco underscoring its darkest accents, and Osmanthus flower revealing its soft light.’
