Kiehl’s Pushes For Sustainable Packaging #Sustainability #SDG #BeauteEspaceLoves
Kiehl’s, the apothecary brand, from the stable of L’Oréal has planned a future with zero waste. Some stunning statistics clearly point at a reason to hurry such initiatives.
In the beauty industry, 153 billion units of plastic is produced and 40% of that is single-use plastic that would end up at a landfill. In a movement to stop the use of single-use plastic there has been a rise of eco-conscious consumers who are giving a boost to products that support sustainable beauty.
In this journey Kiehl’s plans to Refill today, Reduce the waste by tomorrow, and in the future rethink on making the future more sustainable. This requires a paradigm shift –as the first step towards the zero-waste vision, looking at ways to reduce waste, especially from a packaging perspective.
Since 1851, Kiehl’s has striven for the better – from responsible formulations, packaging & manufacturing to supporting communities and helping to reduce environmental impact. Kiehl’s, with its recent initiative, plans to continue its journey towards a Future Made Better™ with its first foray into refillable beauty – introducing the NEW Kiehl’s Pouch Refillable.
Kiehl’s Pouch Refillable is reportedly going to save on average 80% more plastic than a typical Kiehl’s single-use product and contain 2-5x the formula of a standard 250ml bottle. Like every other Kiehl’s product, the pouches can be brought in-store once empty and be recycled through Kiehl’s Recycle & Be Rewarded program.
The driving force of Kiehl’s vision is the ‘try before you buy’ initiative that allows clients to try products before they purchase. Having created a legacy of 0ver 92 years, ever since starting in 1851 as an old apothecary in New York’s East Village neighbourhood to 250 stores around the world including 14 flagship stores in India now the brand also relies on its strong force of beauty advisors and has recently launched it e-store.
