Meet Lakmé Salon’s Blockbuster Brides from LFW Winter/Festive 2019
Lakmé Salon presented the sensational “Blockbuster Brides” collections by Anushree Reddy and Arpita Mehta at recently concluded Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 in Mumbai. A grand showcase of hairstyles, makeup and bridal couture, the mood for the show was set for an Indian Wedding on the ramp to the foot-tapping live music by Nankhathai band Noor Mohammed from Gulalwadi.
“Bollywood has always set the bar for fashion & makeup trends. With many of the biggest stars tying the knot in the last year, brides-to-be are looking to add a Bollywood twist to their wedding looks. Drawing inspiration from this, we at Lakmé Salon have curated a glamorous list of looks – recreating some of the most iconic wedding moments in contemporary Bollywood movies. Our collaboration with Anushree and Arpita for LFW will let real-life brides bring their silver-screen dreams to reality,” said Pushkaraj Shenai – CEO, Lakmé Lever.
Keeping the theme of the show intact Anushree Reddy’s bridal collection featured youthful designs that were an ode to flowers and their exquisite natural itr or fragrance. The ensembles were ethereal in soft sheer fabrics – lush silk organza, Chanderi and fine tulle on lehengas, cholis and dupattas. Shades of mauve danced with warm apricot, while striking mulberry played hide and seek with shadow grey along with crimson, seashell, teal and midnight blue. Stopping the show was Bollywood starlet Ananya Pandey who walked down the ramp in a glittering ivory lehenga, choli and dupatta.
Arpita’s collection for “Blockbuster Brides” was a great mélange of fabulous beauty, bohemian chic and of course, a celebration of bridal wear. Inspired by the rich and cultural heritage of the country, Arpita added a contemporary spin to the garments with nude pink, champagne, gold, ivory, neon yellow and pink on rich lush fabrics like Tabi silk, Modal and silk organza. Giving the nouveau bride a classic but New Age look, Arpita added stylish elements like coins, ghungroos, cowrie shells too. embellished jackets, slim kurtas, flowing shararas and stylishly belted kaftans offered comfort-wear during the bridal festivities.
Ananya walked the ramp again to close the show in a glowing, fuchsia, lehenga combined with a strappy choli that dazzled with zardosi work.
