Prep with Ritu Kolentine for Destination Wedding Makeup & Hair
Prep tips by Ritu Kolentine
Considering bridal make-up needs to hold up through every last dance, toast and selfie, it’s essential that you entrust this responsibility properly at a destination wedding. International make-up artist and aesthetician Ritu Kolentine – Founder, Ritu Kolentine Makeover Studio and Training Academy gives a glimpse into the must-haves while listing and packing essentials to be a good destination wedding make-up artist.
Weather and location: Check weather and location with the bride and groom and plan accordingly. If it’s a beach wedding, hair has to be done differently and make-up has to be waterproof since weather has its own moisture. Check on the venue – if it is open place or resort.
CounsLTING the bride: You have to do a consultation with the bride beforehand. Her likings, hair choice, outfit details, skin type, etc., everything has to be discussed so that one can carry things according to her unique needs. Your make-up essentials depend on the kind of clients you plan to work with. Ask her about the photographer, lighting and theme they are following.
Cleaning: A perfect make-up artist is not the one who has all high-end makeup products. Sanitation, disinfection, hygiene, and skin protection is also a must.
Have everything in bulk: You never know a few more friends of the bride or the groom’s sisters may want to get dolled by you on the spot. You should be prepared and get ready for any chaos. Take along extra hair extensions, hair pins, accessories and tools with you.
Pack all essentials: Do listing and pack all essentials. This is the key to surviving destination wedding assignments. Always pack the right things and not a lot of things. Take along every suitable expected essential including tools, make-up products, foundation for all skin tones, etc.
